Using computational methods to understand social relations
Welcome to the homepage of the Assistant Professorship of Computational Social Science and Social Dynamics at the School of Business, Economics, and Society at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg.
The Assistant Professorship of Computational Social Science and Social Dynamics is part of the Institute for Labor Market and Socioeconomics (IAS) at FAU’s School of Business, Economics, and Society. In both research and teaching, we employ advanced computational methods to analyze individuals’ educational and work careers and how these are shaped by organizations and affected by societal changes, such as technological change and digitalization. Our research addresses questions such as:
- How does technological change and digitalization affect gender inequality in the educational system and the labor market?
- How does organizational inequality affect application and hiring behavior of men and women?
- Under what conditions do crime and terrorist events affect discrimination in the labor market?
