Since June 2023, Malte Reichelt is Assistant Professor of Computational Social Science and Social Dynamics at FAU. He is also a research associate at the IAB and the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi). He is currently leading an Emmy Noether Junior Research Group on ‘Technological Change, Digitalization and Gender Inequality’ (GenDiT), hosted at FAU. Prior to joining FAU, Malte Reichelt worked as Assistant Professor of Social Research and Public Policy at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) and New York University (NYU). From 2013 to 2016, he was a PhD student and scholarship holder in the joint graduate program of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the School of Business, Economics and Society at FAU (GradAB), focusing on increasing demands on worker flexibility. He holds an MA in Sociology from the University of Mannheim and a BA in Socioeconomics from FAU.

Malte Reichelt’s research focuses on organizations in the labor market, technological change, gender inequality and educational decisions. He frequently uses computational methods and big administrative data. His research has been published in leading Sociology and interdisciplinary journals, such as Social Forces, European Sociological Review, British Journal of Sociology, ILR Review, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, International Migration Review, or Scientific Reports.

Since 2022, Malte Reichelt is board member of the Academy of Sociology, a professional scientific association promoting analytical-empirical social science with currently more than 350 members. He also is member of the Editorial Board of Soziale Welt, one of the leading general interest sociology journals published in Germany. Malte Reichelt is also member of the German Sociological Association (DGS) and the American Sociological Association (ASA).
